Open Back Shelving
Organize A Mudroom With Clever Open Back Shelving
Open back shelving is ideal for a mudroom. Keys, backpacks, jackets and briefcases typically end up by the door, dumped off before reaching its proper destination. Sounds familiar? Meet them half way by transforming the empty wall space in your foyer into a mudroom. By using the rods and shelves of a closet, you can build a one-stop place for everyone to dump their stuff, only this time it will be all organized.
You can get really creative with this space, and make great use of open back shelving. Instead of using wire shelves, why not wooden ones to add a little pizazz. The choice is yours, and it depends on what best compliments your entryway. You can implement the same idea by your entry doorway from your garage, it that’s your main point of entry. It works well either way, keeps everything organized and is easy to assemble and install.
There are some home designs, where the entry into the home from the garage is through the laundry room. Another great spot to add some open back shelving for a mudroom. Get all the wet boots, raincoats, umbrellas and more off the floor and onto some shelves for organization. The most you would probably have to do, is mop the wet floor and clean the dirt that naturally comes off from these items. All part of organization.
Consider your choices for this everyday occurrence. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant, just practical and safe. It would truly make a big difference in helping you organize the dumped stuff.
