Floating Shelving

Display Your Photographs and Home Decor On Floating Wall Mounted Shelving

There are many times that when we are decorating a room that we still need places to put things but have run out of space on the floor to do so.  When this happens it is time to consider Floating Shelving or Wall Mounted Shelving.  One of the first places this becomes obvious is in the case of an office.  Once the desk,  credenza, and chairs are in place there is often the need to have places for reference books and materials to keep the office going.  A neat wooden book case of the same material as the other office furniture can easily fit above the the desk top or computer stand.

Many times in a room there is a need to have the home theater components displayed on Wall Mounted Shelving so that the remotes can have an easy access to them.  If the intention is to have the components displayed without being obvious as to how they are being suspended you can use tempered glass on wrought or shaped iron supports.  The glass will become almost invisible and the eye will be attracted to the electronics component or other item that is displayed on the shelf.

An alternative to displaying family photographs on the wall is to put them on Wall Mounted Shelving.  Because of the light weight nature of photographs the shelves can be constructed of thin pine or other soft wood.  They can also be narrower than shelves for books or other items so that they can easily be mounted in hallways.  or other areas of limited clearance.  Supports for the shelves can also be smaller and not quite so obvious.

Many times there is the need to have shelving for heavier items as well.  Depending on the weight of the items to be contained on the shelves,  they might need to rest on the floor as well as being Wall Mounted Shelving.  For home or office use well constructed wood shelves will do.   For many applications in the garage or shop, metal shelving and supports will be the preferred material.  If the floor is not going to be used for the main support insure that the shelves are firmly secured to the  wooden studs inside the walls and not just to the wallboard itself.
