Keep Counter Tops Clutter Free with Counter Top Storage

Organization for your counter tops is a tricky one. Food preparation can be difficult with a cluttered counter tops, but it is also impractical to have a completely bare counter top. Storing counter top appliances that you use everyday can be a major pain. Counter top storage can solve that problem.

One way you can find enough room for both food prep and appliances is extending your counter tops from the standard 24″ to 30″. If you find that 30″ is too deep and uncomfortable, have your cabinets installed about 6″ from the back wall bringing the counter tops closer without the extreme depth.

A few options to help solve your storage issues:

• Install narrow shelves along the back splash, to store small frequently used items like spices and timers
• Go for appliance garages to store toasters and blenders out of sight, or put them in a corner along the wall
• Decide on a butcher block area with a cut out hole, and locate a trash container to collect scraps
• Store spoons and stirrers in a ceramic crock for easy access.

• Install a pull out cutting board under the counter top to maximize work space
• Store your knives near the cutting board in the proper draw storage solution instead of having them on the counter top

Creative Thinking

Your back splash and wall space can be used creatively to add stylish storage solutions.  Don’t ignore them. Some more ideas for storage:

• Install a cook book holder on your wall to keep recipes close at hand and off the counter top already filled with bowls and ingredients.
• Mount a back splash storage systems for your utensils and say good by to over flowing drawers.
• Mount a pot rack above your island or on the wall near your cooking area.
• Install a wine rack on the wall to get your bottles of fine wine off the counter tops or from the inside of cabinets.

By implementing these small but practical changes, you will find that your storage issues in your kitchen will begin to alleviate.
